Why would you like to buy the enhanced version of Blog Navigator.
Published on September 23, 2004 By Adam Najmanowicz In

First of all - the regular version may be just enough for most of the users.

  • IT'S FREE (as in Free Beer)
  • It will not expire on you,
  • it will not nag you to buy the Proffessionl version,
  • it is spyware free (no mallicious aps or dll's)
  • it won't show any adds
  • and again... IT'S REALLY FREE.

So as you see, we do not force you to buy the enhanced version, but you may want to do it if you need any of the following features:

1) Blogging

Blogging is thre most obvious difference - the Professional version of Blog Navigator allows you to post and edit articles on your blog. It comes with a handfull of predefined services for you to choose from but also allows you to post to any blog service that supports the following API's:

  • Blogger 1.0
  • Blogger 2.0
  • MetaWeblog - an extended version of Blogger 1.0 API
  • MovableType - an "extended but not quite compatible" version of MetaWeblog

So additionally to the openly available services like Blogger or JoeUser you may also edit articles on a blog application you can host on your server. MovebleType or WordPress as well as most open source and proprietary blogging web applications support at least one of those API's. I will write more about that in another article talking exclusively about blogging with Blog Navigator really soon.

2) More than one special folder of each kind

Regular Blog Navigator allows only for one

  • Basket - used to store articles and web pages you want to keep for some reason.
  • Article Monitor - a smart folder that captures all messages containing a word, a phrase or a set of words/phrases in an article. The monitor supports both ALL and ANY word/phrase condition. This feature combined with a possibility of putting more of them in a grouping folder that you can view all of the results in is a really powerfull tool.
  • Web Search - this is an article Monitor taken to the World-Wide-Web level. It searches all the avilable RSS web engines for a phrase/word or a set of them (again with ALL and ANY condition). Put more of them in a group and you have an incredibly powerfull World-Wide-Blog monitor!

3) You support the development of Blog Navigator

You're a nice person and want to support the development of the free version for the average Joe.
